Layers of Life
February 4, 2011 * * * * * Posted by:
guest blogger
This past week I was invited to write a guest log for one of my favourite photo/wordlogs: Vision & Verb. Not a day goes by without a visit there, and I am proud that all the girls here thought I was worth it to give it a go. I hope I will keep the standard as high as you all do regularly.
What to talk about? That was the first question that came to me. How will I go about this? Well, I thought I’d best look for a photo first (I am first most an amateur photographer, and thén a amateur ‘writer’) and then see if the words will come to me... and they did.
I took this photo while traveling through Scandinavia. What really struck me the most there was the tranquility and peace, not just in nature, but in people as well. They are all so relaxed and smooth. It made me wander off several times, thinking about life. Tranquility really can grab you by the bootstraps. In a hectic life as we all know it in the year 2011, we need a place to go back to from time to time. For me that place can be anywhere, as long as I can visualize an image like on this photo.
The layers of the mountain representing the layers of my life. The quiet surroundings representing the quiet moments I like to treasure in my everyday life. Moments where I can reflect on all that has passed, and maybe even wander about what will come. Moments that are necessary to keep me going, they give new energy.
As for the layers that I mentioned, we all have our own layers; sometimes we peel them off, sometimes we keep them tight -maybe too tight- to protect us. But we can open up with the ones we trust, the ones we love and the ones that love us.
This photo makes me want to make a wish:
“The peace and tranquility in this image is what I wish to everyone around me, my loved ones. Sharing this photo can maybe do that... to my loved ones, and also to all of you here at Vision & Verb.”
Just remember; take a moment to reflect, each day, and it will keep you going and it will give you more spirit and energy. How philosophical is that for an ending to this post...
Thanks for inviting me to write this guest post, I hope is suits you all, and you can all find something in the words or in the photo that makes you think a bit about your life, and makes you value you more.

It is an honour to see my post up here, I hope it meets your standard, you are all so good with words and images... can I get in that same rank? I wonder...
This is a fine addition to V&V Chantal and a view of life that will strike a chord with many
This is beautiful Chantal! I can see and feel the peace..hear the quiet in your image. And - if this is any sort of metaphor as to the layers of your life..I would imagine those layers to be beautiful ones!
Thank-you for joining us..and for sharing today!!!!
thank you for the gentle reminder to reflect, to wonder about the past, and to cherish curiosity for today.
Hey Chantel, your words about the people of Scandinavia ... relaxed and smooth ... just made me sigh as did your stunning image. Very nice post.

You are so right, Chantal. Life is so busy these days. It is important to slow down and reflect on our lives every once in a while. It sure helps to have someplace this beautiful to do that reflecting. Thank you for joining us here today.
Chantal, I really love your photo - what a beautiful image. And it sure reflects what you're writing about - tranquility and peace. I for one definitely need those in my life, and I loved what you wrote about it. Thank you so much for sharing this with us today. I love this - as simple as that.
It's a delightful image, Chantal (one of my favorites from you!), and really does depict layers of seeing and being. To know and be known is prehaps the greatest gift of life. When it happens, we are truly blessed! Welcome back to V&V.

What a gorgeous photo, Chantal. So glad to see you here, and yes, your story made me think, we all need to remind ourselves to allow a little time for ourselves everyday. That sometimes, doing nothing is the most important thing. Thank you for sharing this lovely story with us.
