Marie Otero - Long Island NY, USA/Perth, Australia

I am probably what you might call the  proverbial "global rugrat".  I was born in the UK, moved to Australia when I was six and since finishing school have lived and worked in a variety of countries across Asia and Europe including Brunei, Malaysia and Switzerland.  Fourteen years ago I moved to the US but still spend a great deal of time each year in Australia with my Family and traveling to other countries when I can.

My early career and education was mainly to do with science and health care and it has only been in the last 10 years or so that I have begun to explore the world of art and photography and for the most part I am pretty well self taught in that regard.

Initially my creative adventures included watercolor painting, dabbling with oils, book making, jewelry making, assemblage, you name it, I have tried it.  Latterly I have contented myself with honing my skills in the digital art and mixed media arena using my camera to capture images that become the foundation of that work.

So far my art journey has included owning my own rubber stamp company, teaching mixed media art classes at national and international art retreats and more recently I've been teaching a series of online workshops for Photoshop and Photoshop Elements users.  

I am happily married to a lovely American man, have two college age sons at school in Australia and two step-sons here in the US.  We keep house in Long Island, NY as well as Perth, Australia and are constantly stepping over one of a number of adopted "furry" friends.
